| Summary: | The plane’s pilot had told air traffic control that he intended to enter a holding pattern while waiting for a runway to be cleared, Soon after, the aircraft experienced some kind of event which caused the plane to experience a rapid loss in elevation and a rapid loss in speed. It soon crashed on the sea ice about 30 miles southeast of Nome. The plane was about 800 lbs. overweight while flying in icing conditions. |
