Summary: While over the Tibetan plateau, at cruising altitude of 32,100 feet, the right windshield cracked in the inner pane and then blew out. The first officer was sucked out of his seat but was eventually able to get back into the cockpit. Also, unnoticed by the crew, the cockpit door blew open and struck several circuit breakers, disabling various functions including the thrust reversers. Flying manually, the captain could not take his hand off the stick long enough to reach his oxygen mask but retained enough consciousness to clear the high plateau and then descend for a safe landing at Chengdu. The probable cause was attributed to water leakage through the windshield seals that corroded the wiring for the windshield anti-ice heating element causing it to overheat and weaken the windshield.
