Thank you for taking the time to create and maintain this site. Ever since I joined the Navy back in 1997 as an aviation electrician I have been interested in crash investigations. I left the Navy in 2007 and went to work for the rail road instead of NTSB because of the low entry pay. I do still enjoy watching and reading about what caused the crashes and how they figured it out.

There is one celebrity plane crash fatality that is omitted from the 1980s chapter. It is that of actor John Gibson, who was the boyfriend of Wheel of Fortune hostess Vanna White. It occurred on May 17, 1986 outside the Van Nuys, CA airport. Research some more info on this crash and include this in the "Famous Fatalities" statistics.

Informative & thought provoking site. Thanks for the work put into it! I think the tapes were very moving. The site also makes me more appreciate the work, and the knowledge, of the pilots, the crew, and the ground control.

*How come LOT airlines is not represented in the accident rate chart for Europe? Just wondering. I guess you picked a few to show? Apparently LOT is one of the oldest airlines in operation (well according to Wiki ;)

Crash on September 22, 2011, Northwest Territories is mis-spelled and you've indicated all 9 people died, only the Pilot and Co-Pilot died, the other 7 are still alive.

Reply: Thanks for the corrections.
