Summary: On a routine United Nations flight to Damascus, Syria, from Beirut, Lebanon, climbed eastward over the Lebanese highlands. Apparently painted by Syrian radar and subsequently as it neared the village of Diemas, the decision was made to launch several SAM missiles, one of which destroyed the aircraft.
