Summary: | The aircraft crashed and burned in a field 10 miles west of Midway Airport. The airliner had taken off from Midway headed for Las Vegas. Loss of a 5/16 inch steel bolt from the elevator boost system which caused the elevator to move to its full upward position creating a stall and loss of control of the aircraft. |
